Government approved photo ID proof is mandatory for each individual guest at the time of booking (to acquire necessary permits) and also upon arrival. PAN card and driving license will not be considered as valid address proof.
There is no governing authority to define hotel star categories in the region, so room standards may differ from TIER-I or TIER-II cities.
By default, standard category rooms are provided unless a request is made for an upgrade.
For triple sharing rooms, extra mattresses are provided. Due to limited infrastructure, accommodations in North-East India have only basic amenities.
Senior citizens and children under 4 are not recommended to visit Gurudongmar Lake due to low oxygen levels. Permits for infants under 2 are not issued by North Sikkim tourism.
Vehicles operate on a point-to-point basis as per North East guidelines. Any deviation from the itinerary may incur additional charges unless due to weather or political/social reasons.
Nathu La Pass is not included in the package. It is a restricted area, and permits are granted only between Wednesday and Sunday. Permits are subject to availability and can be canceled anytime due to weather or security. Cost ranges from INR 4000 to INR 9000 per vehicle, payable on the spot.
Additional spots like Mt. Katao, Kalapathar, Chopta Valley, and Zero Point are also chargeable (INR 4000–9000 per vehicle per spot), and visits are subject to permit availability.
Sumo and Bolero vehicles are not allowed in Sikkim market areas. If you choose them, pickups and drop-offs will be at the nearest accessible point. You may need to walk or take a local union cab at your own expense.
During peak season, pickups or drops may be delayed due to traffic, weather, or political events.
Due to power shortages, electric room heaters are not allowed by the government. Some hotels may provide them at an extra cost and subject to availability.
Travelers wearing turbans are not permitted in Lachen.
Foreign nationals are not allowed in Lachen, Baba Mandir, or Nathula Pass due to state security guidelines. Foreigners in groups of two or more can visit Lachung and Tsomgo Lake with a mandatory Indian guide. Solo foreign nationals are not granted permits for North Sikkim.
A foreign national with an Indian spouse is considered a solo traveler unless the spouse has an OCI card.
If permits for North Sikkim are denied due to weather or other reasons, alternate sightseeing will be arranged, but the cost of alternate accommodation must be borne by the traveler.
Heavy rainfalls from June to September may cause roadblocks and itinerary changes.
Any changes to the itinerary are subject to weather, political situations, or government regulations. Itinerary may be rearranged accordingly.
Unvisited sightseeing points due to delays, traffic, weather, late permits, or any reason beyond control are not eligible for refunds.
Eco-zones require strict no-littering compliance; violations may result in legal action.
State-issued health guidelines must be followed. Travelers are advised to maintain social distancing, wear masks, and sanitize hands regularly.
